We’re happy to say that the local poker action in Costa Rica has never been better! The Europa Card Club, professionally managed by American expat Jim Bonnet, is open daily from 4pm until 3am. (On Poker Weekend promotion dates, room there are extended hours.) Players who start game vote on what type of game they want to play for the day. Normally, it is a mixed game with two rounds of Omaha Hi-Lo and one round
of Texas Hold’em.
Usually we have three ring games going, one each at the following limits: $5/$10/$15, $10/$20, and $20/40 with a half kill.
Costa Rica, a country rich in natural resources and poker talent.
The caliber of play at the card club varies, of course, depending on the lineup of players populating the table. Costa Rica boasts more than their share of poker talent. We are very proud to say that the card club is home to many world-caliber players such as Humberto Brenes, Alex Brenes, Jose Rosenkrantz, Dewey Tomko, Gus Echeverri, and many, many more. In addition, there are many not-so-well-known, yet equally dangerous opponents who call Costa Rica their home. Many an American tourist has come to the club thinking he’d show the locals a thing or two about poker, only to leave many hours later with less money than he started and scratching his head.

In addition to the daily ring games, the Europa Card Club also has a weekly tournament schedule as follows:
